Mission Statement :

This website has been created with three specific goals in mind.

A. To offer explanation, encouragement and psycho spiritual support to the psychiatrized and all others bent or broken by systemic dysfunction.

B. To help to awaken the mental illness industry to some very old, yet still resisted, truths.

C. To take back the right to speak in the first person about my experience and to offer ideas and practical help to others trying to do the same.

We Regret to Announce the Death 

Of our friend, long time Psych activist, psychiatric survivour and outspoken critic of psychiatry, who spoke often on behalf of those who had their “Voices” taken away from them; John McCarthy, gone too soon at the age of 61. As  a remembrance of John and a way to continue to hear his voice now, I am reposting one of his interviews in podcast form. We will miss him. But we will keep his spirit alive.

About Me

If you decide to read this Site, you will find that I am approaching this problem of the psychiatrization of human beings from basically four different perspectives on it.

They are:

A.      From that of a former aid who was employed to work one to one with ‘clients’ inside a psychiatric hospital, through a health care agency.   
B.      As a member (in long standing) of various dysfunctional groups and from within a variety of dysfunctional relationships.

C.      As a targeted person ‘chosen’ for 'covert' assessment who has now had first hand experience of psychosis (‘decompensation’) and experienced  real, long term re-integration and recovery while being drug free since 1997. 

D.     As someone who has found out a great deal about what is going on in psychiatry in general and with the relationship with it in particular, as well as with whole communities which they now involve in ‘saving’ people, like it or not, who are all very much like me.                                                   

 I do hope this Website offers you some of the understanding you may be looking for. I also hope that it helps to make the experience from the ‘patient’ point of view, a view long suppressed, ignored, and psychiatrized, become a better understood REALITY for the reader, especially those readers like mental illness pros, friends and family who really don’t understand it now.

It is not so ‘complex’ that it cannot be understood if you take the time to look and listen. Very often, it is only made to appear ‘complex’ as a smokescreen used to conceal the perfectly obvious. It is too often the obvious that is not seen.

Paradoxically then, this site is about reframing ‘reality’ in more realistic terms.

Folly of Being Fools

If humanity really wants to put a stop our collective foolishness, we will all have to stop trying to fool others, stop being fooled by others, stop pretending to be fooled, so that all of the greatest fools will “like' us and we can be “popular” with them for our co-operation with their foolishness. Fools like other fools because the unquestioning supporter and enabler of a fool, is a also a fool. Did you just get the urge to sing that song...Chain of Fools?
