 One of the things Jesus said when talking about the failure to understand was this: 

a.  “My words do no work in you.”  

Another was,

b. “There is a gulf between us I cannot cross.”

 And,
c.  “What is this generation like? Like children calling to each other across the town square, “we played a song for you but you wouldn't sing!”

Also that one said,
d.  "My words require no interpretation from anyone."
and also

The people of his day could not make any sense of what he was saying you see. They thought he was crazy or possessed by demons. If he was here today, I don't doubt that an ACT team would show up at the carpentry shop after the neighbours began talking about how 'weird' he was and if he then stated that his neighbours had started treating him strangely and were talking about him behind his back, or even right in front of him, like he wasn't there, the police would be picking him up and taking him for a nice visit to 'the quiet room.' There the normal people would not have to be upset by having a whack job sitting with them in the emergency department, loudly proclaiming he was not really ill.

Once that 'intervention' was under way, it really would not matter what he said as none of it would make sense to those who have already made their own kind of 'sense' of him and the situation before he was ever brought there. The 'gulf between them' then, and after that, would just grow to universal proportions. Of course Jesus would already have known that as that sort of thing was exactly what he was talking about.

The irony of this of course is that many of the normal people go to the churches dedicated to his way of thinking and worship this one as the Son of God, but I think if he was actually here, just being, right now, who he was then, they would be the first  ones calling the psychiatric hospital for help. Then they would go back to their places of worship together and talk out loud to an invisible being they have never seen but they just "know" is there, despite any 'real' evidence to the contrary. They would ask that One to please help Jesus get well; Jesus who would by then be talking out loud in the 'intensive care' unit, to the same invisible being and maybe even thinking that God is talking to him. Of course that's the problem isn't it? You can talk to an invisible being, but if you believe the invisible being talks to YOU, then you're crazy. It is also about WHERE you are, when you are talking to the invisible One. Can you see the tautology in that? We who get trapped within it do and we often even SAY so; but of course, you 'normal' people don't know what it means and so to defend your ignorance and the status quo you must have it mean NOTHING.

There is one very important point here that I think is lost on most people.

Why do the normal people, as they define themselves, base their faith on the teachings of someone that most of them would have locked up as obviously mad today? He was even called mad and possessed then. What makes you think you are so different now, from the people back then?  Don't make the mistake of thinking that I am trying to convince you that Jesus was just crazy. It is quite the opposite. I am trying to show you that what you CALL crazy has something to do with context and also trying to show you that your consensus realities as more about closing ranks to defend the pack (the groupthink) than they are about really identifying reality in all its complexity. 

One of the common things dysfunctional people do as part of the defence of the dysfunction is to make an automatic assumption that if THEY can't “make sense”' of something the “unusual” other is saying, it can ONLY mean that what they don't understand cannot have any sense in it and/or the 'other' person does not make sense.

It is not routinely assumed that the problem is something lacking in either the amount, or type, of information, or that outright lies are being told by some, or that the senselessness may be in the dysfunctional group members.   

Here is how I, who have been psychiatrized by you 'modern' people today, might put it differently to how Jesus said it back then. Let me now modernize this for you and 'interpret' it in terms of the current language, psychiatrese: 

a.  “No matter what I say, or how I say it, nothing penetrates your thick skulls.” 

“Though we are using the same words we are not speaking the same language.” 

b. “You are playing a tune for me and are getting all righteously indignant, contemptuous and dissing me in public because I won’t dance to it.”

c. "I am speaking English (to English speaking people) and I do not need an interpreter either, or someone to speak FOR me as if I were an idiot, or to look for bloody 'hidden meaning' where there is none." (which according to you who are looking for it means you need an anti-psychotic!) 

d.  I cannot come over to your side of reality (the gulf between us) as your reality is NOT reality at all. It is a fantasy world you have created for yourselves and which you want to project onto me and force me, if necessary, to accept it so that the dysfunctional 'normal' will not have to see the truth about themselves. 

Jesus death represented killing the truth and burying it.

e.  If you people who are mocking me and ridiculing me for ‘thinking’ I understand more about my own life experience than you do intend to keep on keeping your silence, to save your own butts at my expense, then I will keep my silence towards you too, especially since you told me I must do so. So if you are waiting for me to talk about it to you, you are going to be waiting until hell freezes over.  Now be sure to share that and remember to laugh with your usual amusement and then DENY it.

f. Even though your ears are working you are psychologically deaf to what I am saying to you which is perfectly obvious. I am not the one who does not understand. YOU are.   

g. You are walking around hypnotized by your dysfunctional programming.  You are in a trance state you bloody idiots, and the biggest hypnotic suggestion keeping you in that trance is the hypnotic suggestion that we who know that, are said to be the ones who are crazy and not really conscious!”

The next time you are listening to crazy people, especially those under such great distress that they are having their minds broken down and are speaking in this symbolism, like in a waking nightmare, try really listening to it, conceptually speaking. Try assuming that the 'crazy' people who are 'not like you' are saying all the same kinds of things for a legitimate REASON, despite the packaging in which it is being delivered, and that is has nothing at all to do with faulty brain chemistry.
