This page is partly for announcing things in the news which the general, as yet to be psychiatrized, public usually does not see as these things do not often make the front pages like the ideas which promote bio psych more often do.
It will also offer some information about what bio psych is up to and why all of us should be paying attention to this for these things are also about the future of the 'yet to be' psychiatrized people.
I do not intend to keep this news updated though but will occasionally post one or two articles only on the same topic or case. This will give those interested in the outcomes some information to 'Google' or "Bing" if you would like to learn more.
There are many sites now keeping up with these things so they should be quite easy to find.

When human distress becomes a 'business' just like any OTHER business, and is dealt with by those who have total, unquestioned power and control over the 'product' as if it WERE a profitable business, then those who are in distress may well find the product they are being sold is one which they are going to be forced to buy.
Endless and 'incurable' distress could be quite the money maker, couldn't it? That is especially true when, unlike other 'businesses,' where pleasing the customer matters, in this business the customer who does not want what is being sold, and who thinks it is a shoddy product, is always wrong. Being always wrong, is built right into the business, and you’re getting it.

DSM-5: The Future of Psychiatric Diagnosis
Publication of the fifth edition of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) in May 2013 will mark one the most anticipated events in the mental health field. As part of the development process, the preliminary draft revisions to the current diagnostic criteria for psychiatric diagnoses are now available for public review and comment. The American Psychiatric Association has stayed closed for years about
creating a fifth version of their "label bible." Because of internal
disagreements, the APA postponed their publishing date of the
"Diagnostic and Statistical Manual - Fifth Edition" or DSM-5, to May
2013.
In response to claims that their process lacked transparency, the APA
has had a web site up for public comments about the draft DSM 5.
But infighting continues. The chair of the previous edition denounced
the online draft of DSM 5 as "wholesale medical imperialism, " in the
LA Times! See:

ACTION: Lodge a civil, public objection to the APA on their very own
web site about the unscientific, undemocratic DSM. Call for

SENATE BILL 543: MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES FOR STUDENTS
WITHOUT PARENTAL KNOWLEDGE!!
SENATE BILL 543 IS AWAITING A FINAL VOTE BY THE STATE ASSEMB LY ANY MINUTE, ANY DAY!
Make no mistake…Senate Bill 543 is one of the most dangerous bills going through the Legislature. And liberal Democrats behind it are trying to ram it through under the radar as much as possible.
SB 543 is a complete breach of parental authority, knowledge and consent.
The same man behind SB 906 (the homosexual “religious” marriages bill) is also behind SB 543. That man is homosexual State Senator Mark Leno of San Francisco.
SB 543 would expand the definition of a “professional person” so that it would allow for a government worker, like a clinical social worker, psychiatrist, or therapist, to send a minor as young as 12 to get “outpatient mental health services.” In fact, a person doesn’t have to be a certified psychiatrist; they can merely be “eligible” to be certified and still send a 12 year old to get mental service or counseling. And this could be done without a parent even being contacted or knowing.
Right now current law only allows for a minor to receive confidential mental health treatment and counseling or receive residential shelter services if they are deemed mature enough and if they only pose a danger to themselves or others or are victims of incest or child abuse. SB 543 undermines these provisions! Under SB 543 a child can request these services for any reason, they don’t have to a victim of abuse or pose a threat.
Section 124260 (H)(b) of the bill states:
Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, a minor who is 12 years of age or older may consent to mental health treatment or counseling services if, in the opinion of the attending professional person, the minor is mature enough to participate intelligently in the mental health treatment or counseling services.
This provision of the bill is clearly designed to give the sole discretion about a child’s maturity not to the parent, but to a state sanctioned social worker, therapist or psychiatrist.
Leno and his bill’s supporters will claim that SB 543 will require that parent’s be involved in a child’s treatment or services. But they have even created a loophole to undermine that as well. Here is what Section (c) states:
Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the mental health treatment or counseling of a minor authorized by this section shall include involvement of the minor's parent or guardian, unless the professional person who is treating or counseling the minor, after consulting with the minor, determines that the involvement would be inappropriate.
All a social worker, therapist or psychiatrist has to do is ask a child if they want mommy and daddy to know. If the child says no they can take it upon themselves to make sure a parent is never contacted!!!
This bill would apply to any instance a child that is between the ages of 12-17 is either under the watch of a social worker, a county agency, in foster care and even while they are in school.
Schools today have health clinics and nurses that have repeatedly gone around the authority of parents and given teens and children abortion counseling services, condoms, contraceptives, and even pro-homosexual counseling. This bill is designed to do one thing: Create yet another avenue for liberal therapists and psychiatrists to plant seeds of doubt in the minds of you about issues ranging from homosexuality, abortion, questioning religion and more!! This bill is about undermining parental authority and challenging the views parents instill in their children in the home!!
WE MUST STOP SB 543!!

Psychiatry Itself May Well Need to be Abolished
It is out of completely out of control.
Even many psychiatrists, previously gung-ho enthusiasts think so now. Those of you in the profession currently, who REALLY want to help change the world for the better, might decide whether you are more suited to the physical or the metaphysical side of 'reality' and then choose psychology/psychotherapy OR neurology as a personal direction of work. But the DSM and it's ambiguous, clearly politcal, agenda has to go.
A museum focused on relics of the mental illness Dark Ages might be the place to store copies of the DSM so that future generations can marvel at the blindness and magical thinking of ‘bona fide’ doctors of the Invalidation, Reductionism and Power ‘Over’ period of ‘medicine.’

Hampton is not a real professor. He's not, in fact, a real person. He is the avatar of At-Risk, a computer game designed by the interactive learning company Kognito, in partnership with the Mental Health Association of New York City, to train faculty to identify students who show signs and symptoms of psychological distress and refer them to the counseling center. CUNY's Office of Student Affairs has purchased 7,000 licenses for At-Risk, which, says University Assistant Dean for Student Affairs Chris Rosa, helps faculty and staff identify students at risk without "removing them from the flow of their very busy days." The game was released in January of this year, and Lehman College is one of six CUNY schools participating in an early pilot to use it to train faculty and staff. (Disclosure: The author works as an adjunct instructor at Lehman.)
