“Left handed people can use both sides of their brain at the same time, so they can usually process more information than right handed people.”

Mehmet Oz, M.D.

(Did you know that I am left handed? I wonder how many more left handed people than right handed people get labelled as compared to the general population? Did you know that I once described other people's idea of the meaning of 'psychic' as really just the ability to pick up more information than most people? Did you know that when I said something similar to a psychiatrist, and said I thought I got more information than most people, I got offered something for my delusions? It was something to 'reduce my awareness.')

Everything on this page is written by me and is based on my own experience, past or present. Much of it is old writing,  a lot of it previously posted or published elsewhere. Some of it is being moved from other pages on this website to make the themes of other pages more consistent.
I will add other things here which I have found to be of some personal benefit to me in my own, often difficult journey through dysfunctional relating, emotional distress, dealing with others and breakdown/through.

As always, use what moves you, helps you, or serves your own healing and feel free to ignore what does not.

I Recommend

I recommend for psych students (and others) a few books available at our local public library. These are:

The Cure of Folly

and Daggers of the Mind: Psychiatry and the Myth of Mental Disease

by Gordon Warme, M.D.

I include these NOT because I agree with every word and in fact, I find much of this disturbing, but because they offer some insights into how the minds of psychiatrists have been trained to work.

Also available locally are:

Toxic Psychiatry By Peter Breggin, M.D.

Agnes's Jacket By Professor Gail Hornstein
and
A Schizophrenia Breakthough by Al Siebert, PhD. Who was psychiatrized while TRAINING in psychiatry.

I hope that these will help to get you to questioning and rethinking the psychiatric status quo.

Your Emotions Are Not Diseases

They do not need to be eradicated. They are more like the brain’s OnStar system, used as guides to help you navigate your way through life. They signal you that something may be amiss and that there may be a better alternate route to take on your journey. It is up to you though, to LOOK at the map of your personal terrain and decide what may work better than the route you are currently following, in a way that will keep you from crashing and also avoid hitting anyone else along the way.

Label Free, Drug Free, Mental Illness Cure

Understanding, developing, practising, and maintaining the capacity for Self definition, Self determination, Self control, and Self Actualization is the “cure” for BOTH the controllers and the controlled, BOTH aggressors and victims.

If the psychology of Self becomes the focus, which means personal empowerment within boundaries, rather than the current “power over/overpowered” model, then both “sides” will disappear and become “One” again, as we once were, in the beginning. With this brand of “selfishness” it is possible for EVERYONE to “win” life...
Why then, even the devil can be redeemed.

Cro-Magnon Arrives on Earth

By Patricia Lefave, Monophrenic

She is obviously 'different' so Neanderthal gives her a little 'test' to see how normal she is. Cro-Magnon looks at Neanderthal with a puzzled facial expression.   Neanderthal sees that Cro-Magnon has no idea at all how to answer Neanderthal’s little test and Cro-Magnon is therefore proved to be inferior by it. Cro-Magnon is now understood by Neanderthal to be quite stupid.

Unknown variables:

Cro-Magnon is AWARE she is being tested and what puzzles her is WHY she is being tested. She is relating to Neanderthal as an equal; neither more nor less.

Neanderthal has no idea that Cro-Magnon is aware that she is being tested and doesn't ask either since his assumption before the testing even begins is that he is the superior mind doing the testing of an inferior mind.

Cro-Magnon believes that “different” only means “not exactly the same.” Neanderthal however believes that “different” can only mean “greater than or less than.”

At the time of the testing BOTH Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon have perception problems about the other, but neither one of them knows that.  Unfortunately, Neanderthal is the one holding the concrete power which allows him to dominate Cro-Magnon and so he does. Because he does, all further evolution stops.

Cro-Magnon is drugged into submission and Neanderthal rules the world for as long as it lasts, while congratulating himself on what a fine job he has done of keeping everything and everyone under his control.
