The Most Amusing Performance of the "Normal" 3/6/2017 Admin 375 views I must say, after just experiencing this one, again recently, at a library branch, this short performance from the "normal" including university students learning how to discuss the defectives, while sounding wise, is definitely my all-time favourite in terms of a really good laugh; maybe because once the absurdity of it is truly SEEN and understood, I, and others also, often compare it to what we USED to believe was a deliberate performance by people either really joking, or just "pretending to be stupid." It is the short performance that goes something like this, from literally, about four feet away: Two people "assess" the case they have had defined for them in that way, offering each other their "interpretations" of (pretty much anything, like flushing a toilet for example or blowing your nose) and most often their “subjects” are referred to as "they", as in "They just think, say or feel" etc. If one of "them" looks right at them while they do it, one, or both, immediately will lower their eyes, and usually the tone of voice as well, while talking out of the sides of their mouths and saying something like this: "I think s/he knows we are talking about her." Or another version, even funnier, goes, "I think that she thinks we are talking about her..." (the other glances to see if that might be true, while one of "us" continues to look right at them both, sometimes while smiling.) This commentary from the assessors, means that "we" might actually KNOW it (from four feet away), or we might only "think" that is what they are doing, even as they split themselves in two, so that the talking, and the "mistaken" perception OF their talking, right THEN, can be two distinct experiences, rather than one and the same thing. After all that is HOW a "them and us" reality is defined. It really is just ludicrous. But then no one can figure out why "they" are just laughing "for NO REASON!"
