UNSEEN WORLD

Signs and Symbols of Madness Everywhere

Which are Routinely “Overlooked”

Do you ever wonder why interventions are NOT performed on “As Yet To Be Labelled” individuals who seem to think and talk so much like we officially labelled Loons?  Well, me too. Let's all take a closer look here shall we? Conversely, Do Labeled People ever get Better?

Calling All the Professional Alternate Reality Creators

Another example of how “you don't know what words mean” directly relates to context or con-text. (smirk)

For example, patients trying to penetrate you resistance to hearing have often said to you something like this, when talking about their experience with a group:

“They keep trying to put THEIR thoughts into MY head.”

You of course, hearing this as a “symptom” in that self-contained defective who sits before you, have given that statement your usual reductionist treatment and named it, “Thought Insertion.”

(Similar to the nexus language of est, as a true abstraction, apart from specific detail)

Nevertheless, what the patients are saying, perhaps not as articulately as they might, especially when they are dealing with people who have a predetermined MEANING already in mind, for anything they are GOING to say, is:

The people who are invalidating me and assigning themselves the roles of my unwanted “interpreters”, are re-inventing my reality for me, and my very obvious experience with THEM, by projecting their OWN “interpretations” of reality, onto me, so THEY don't have to let go of their own error or look at themselves as the ones with the problem.

Oh, and as distasteful as it may seem to those of you still supporting “The Family Romance”, it is very often dysfunctional family members who DO this, for the same reasons that other groups do it and then deny it all. As I have said before also, Alice Miller mentioned this in her own books. The group behaviour is a part of the defense of the group dysfunction.  It all exists in society in general.

Here is an example out of my own experience in this:

While shopping at Value Village a few years ago, I was evaluated for other employees by an employee at the front, also a Homewood “graduate” I believe, and a 12 Stepper. She pointed me out to another staffer from about seven feet away. That one said, “Why is she looking at the clothing labels?” the one who had pointed me out responded, “Well that is so she can see if these clothes are GOOD enough for Her....”

Now one way I might have of describing that experience with my “interpreters,” all now understood by me to be “hiding” in plain sight, might be...”Why that two faced one there seems to be trying to put HER thoughts into MY head.”   (aka Projection)

This is also an example of those “normal” people who are “fabricating.” So please get THEM the “help” they obviously “need.” For you see, it is not REALLY about WHAT is happening. It is about WHO as defined by a dysfunctional group, is being assessed and defined by WHOM.

In reality, (my OWN as defined by me)I was looking at the labels then, and still DO, because I no longer buy clothes made of polyester, which often masquerades as many other fabrics. I am now a cotton, rayon or silk kind of gal. But then, my looking at clothing labels was not the real point anyway. The point was to invalidate me for doing or not doing...(?) basically invalidation for invalidation's sake. So any “interpretation” of pretty much anything I say, or do, will work as well. That is so that those who are DOING the invalidating can use the contest they think they are in, to FEEL better about themselves. You know? Being objectified by them for that “reason” (purpose) but without “reason.” (logic)

It also helps them to “bond” with each other.

To add more “mystification” to it, MOST of the people who act out like this consider themselves to be “hidden” from those they evaluate.

Now think again.

Patient: (many of them) “They do this all the time. They try to put THEIR thoughts into MY head.

(The frequently fabricating “normal” people.)

Imagine what it must be like to have to keep telling a doctor, who has total control over your rights and freedom, the TRUTH s/he can't HEAR, no matter how many times, or how many different ways, you say it.

Some of us don’t HAVE to “imagine” what that is like.

Riddle: what's the difference between being in ANY kind of a relationship with someone and being in any kind of a relationship ABOUT someone?

Answer: in the first case you are actually in a relationship and in the second case, you aren't.

Stigma
by Patricia Lefave, Monophrenic

One of my readers was telling me that he had been contacted by a professional to participate in a conference about the 'stigma' of mental illness. My reader then discovered that the professional was not really interested in hearing what was being said, just as inside the bio psychiatric system he had not seen any interest in his point of view after the first few minutes when a diagnosis was reached. In part, my answer to his experience included this and I thought I would post it here as I have heard it so frequently.

What 'stigma' means to 'them' and what it means to us is not the same thing. "They" want to get rid of the ''stigma" of 'mental illness' by training the public to become even MORE deaf to what we 'claim' happened to us involving other people, by strenuously promoting the idea that our CLAIMS are just a manifestation of a bio chemical illness 'just like diabetes.'

See the difference? We on
BOTH sides of the meaning admit to the ongoing existence of a 'stigma,' but the understanding of the actual cause of that is completely different. So, while we are using the same WORD, we do not mean the same thing, and 'OUR' side of our own experience is not invited to 'debate' it with the 'experts.' This extreme imbalance (ironically) of POWER and control is what is keeping this going.

It creates a tautological argument that has already been 'won' by the 'experts'
BEFORE our experience of it has even begun. It is also doing a damned fine job of enabling and supporting abusers who want to believe THEY represent all this is 'normal' in the world and they are therefore 'justified' in their abuse of others since we 'others' are 'abnormal.' This is especially true if the abuse is psycho-spiritual/verbal in nature as we can’t parade our 'bruises' or 'injury' in a concrete way.

It is all about the psycho-politics.
