Which are Routinely “Overlooked”

Do you ever wonder why interventions are NOT performed on “As Yet To Be Labelled” individuals who seem to think and talk so much like we officially labelled Loons?  Well, me too. Let's all take a closer look here shall we? Conversely, Do Labeled People ever get Better?

The Magic Line

This is the "magical" line drawn between the sane and the insane, the "normal' and the abnormal, them and us, etc.

You know that magic line which all of you assessors and evaluators of your 'inferiors' have drawn between what I (and SO many others) will see, hear, know and understand and what I won't? You know...the invisible "line" between conscious and unconscious which allows YOU to act out your duplicity from one to ten feet away, while keeping yourself convinced that I won't be able to understand you anyway.

(Which used to be partly TRUE actually. I didn't understand you.)

With me so far?

Well, that “line" is there BUT (modifier) it is actually the line you drew through your OWN awareness. It is not a line that really exists in MY awareness. Nor does it really exist between us.  It's YOUR imaginary “magical” line. It's like the magician who tricks HIMSELF into believing he is performing a fantastic illusion for an audience that watches, while looking at him perplexed, because he ASSUMES this reaction is amazement about his trick; that his audience is perplexed about HOW he does it.

In reality though, the audience looks perplexed because there is NO ILLUSION being successfully performed and they are perplexed about what the inept “magician”, obviously so pleased with himself, thinks, or believes, that he is DOING in that staged performance.

In Real Life the audience thinks the magician should get off HIS act, get a new one, and stop expecting to be highly paid and applauded for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Nevertheless, the self-promoting magician continues with the same old act. For no one who fails to accept his magical “transformations” is going to ruin HIS act, or all the fun he has, by coming out on his stage from behind his veil...uh I mean... curtain of course. For he loves to put on a performance for those, whom he always sees, as having the UNDERstanding in relation to HIM.  He's right too. We ALL do, have the UNDERstanding....in one way OR another.

Now, you won't take that the wrong way, will you?

The magician believes "there is no reality only perception." But THAT is the illusion that he sold himself. In reality, many in his audience can perceive that very clearly. It is obvious to THEM that his magic act really stinks.

And the Moral of the Story is?

If the magicians spent a whole lot more time perfecting their OWN performance rather than projecting their own beliefs ABOUT their “amazing” performance, onto the perplexed audience watching them DO NOTHING, they just might come up with something real, that would work for everyone, without needing all that "secrecy," misdirection to accomplish that.

Stigma
by Patricia Lefave, Monophrenic

One of my readers was telling me that he had been contacted by a professional to participate in a conference about the 'stigma' of mental illness. My reader then discovered that the professional was not really interested in hearing what was being said, just as inside the bio psychiatric system he had not seen any interest in his point of view after the first few minutes when a diagnosis was reached. In part, my answer to his experience included this and I thought I would post it here as I have heard it so frequently.

What 'stigma' means to 'them' and what it means to us is not the same thing. "They" want to get rid of the ''stigma" of 'mental illness' by training the public to become even MORE deaf to what we 'claim' happened to us involving other people, by strenuously promoting the idea that our CLAIMS are just a manifestation of a bio chemical illness 'just like diabetes.'

See the difference? We on
BOTH sides of the meaning admit to the ongoing existence of a 'stigma,' but the understanding of the actual cause of that is completely different. So, while we are using the same WORD, we do not mean the same thing, and 'OUR' side of our own experience is not invited to 'debate' it with the 'experts.' This extreme imbalance (ironically) of POWER and control is what is keeping this going.

It creates a tautological argument that has already been 'won' by the 'experts'
BEFORE our experience of it has even begun. It is also doing a damned fine job of enabling and supporting abusers who want to believe THEY represent all this is 'normal' in the world and they are therefore 'justified' in their abuse of others since we 'others' are 'abnormal.' This is especially true if the abuse is psycho-spiritual/verbal in nature as we can’t parade our 'bruises' or 'injury' in a concrete way.

It is all about the psycho-politics.
